Meet Our Shop Cat: Doris! 🐾

Have you met Doris? She's not just any cat; she's the heart and soul of Beachwood Flower Shop, and our very own Shop Manager!

💖Her Story: A Journey to Our Hearts

Doris joined our team in 2015, but her journey to us began with a difficult past. After experiencing abuse and abandonment by her previous owner, she found herself at the Toronto Humane Society. It was there that our owner, Jenny, visited the center, found Doris, and knew instantly she had to bring her home. From that moment, Doris's life took a turn for the better, finding a loving forever home right here at the shop.

✨Doris's Daily Delights & Quirks:

Job Title: Shop Manager (and Chief Cuddler)
Unique Feature: She wears adorable white "socks" on her hind paws!
Hobbies:
- Rolling over and showing her belly to even the newest customers – she's a pro at charming everyone!
- Enjoying leisurely strolls around the neighborhood on beautiful sunny days.
Favorite Spots to Be Petted: Under her chin, on her forehead, and (surprisingly!) her bum.
Least Favorite Spot to Be Petted: Her paws! Definitely off-limits.
Signs She Loves You: When you pet her bum, she'll wrap her tail around your arm, snuggle in close, and immediately flop over for belly rubs!

💔A Memorable (and Scary) Episode:

About 9 years ago, Doris went for a walk in the neighborhood and came back severely injured, with a ruptured internal organ. Jenny was heartbroken and cried profusely as she rushed her to the vet, where the doctor sadly confirmed it looked like she had been violently kicked. Doris underwent emergency surgery and, thankfully, made a full recovery. She's healthy and happy now, but it's a stark reminder that animal cruelty is never okay. (Of course, we're so grateful that the vast majority of our customers are incredibly kind and loving towards her!)

🧐Doris's Shop Management Philosophy:

As our official Shop Manager, Doris takes her role seriously. She never, ever touches the merchandise. Instead, she prefers to sit a little distance away, casting a watchful, discerning eye over all the beautiful blooms and ensuring everything is in its proper place. Her silent inspections are legendary!
